CLASSIFICATION RESPONSIBILITIES: 1 . Drives District bus or van through designated routes in accordance with time schedules, picking up and discharging students; transporting students and teachers on special trips to various locations, choosing the best route and making departure and arrival time as scheduled. 2. Checks motorized equipment and fills with fuel, oil, water, battery water and air as required. 3. Makes mechanical checks to assure buses can be operated safely. 4. Cleans and washes automotive equipment; reports mechanical defects. 5. Maintains order on the bus/van and reports any problems to the appropriate administrator. 6. Uses good judgment at bus stops to protect students from other traffic while boarding or departing from the bus/van. 7. Follows District policies and maintains transportation related records as required. 8. Inspects bus/van prior to operations for safety purposes; renders first aid or emergency assistance. 10. Arranges replacements for bus/van coverage in absence of supervisor. 11. May perform other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school or G.E.D. or equivalent* AND; experience closely related to the duties and responsibilities of this class. Education equivalence equals an adult education diploma or four (4) years of increasingly responsible work experience in a directly related field. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: 1. Possession of valid Class A Commercial Driver's license with school bus, passenger and air brake endorsements issued by the California Department of Motor Vehicles AND 2. Current Medical certificate as required AND 3. Possession of a current, or ability to obtain, Standard First Aid and CPR cards AND 4. Possession of a valid school bus driver's certificate. 5. As a condition of employment, applicants must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test. Bangor Elementary School District is willing to work with candidates who are close to meeting the certificate, license and other requirements listed above.
