Class A Truck Driver - Baton Rouge, LA (70802)
Compensation: $1,250-$1,450 per week
Position Summary
CK Transportation is hiring skilled Class A drivers in Baton Rouge, LA for regional flatbed operations. This opportunity focuses on consistent weekly performance, professional driving standards, and predictable home schedules. The position is open to qualified CDL A drivers seeking reliable earnings and modern equipment in a supportive company environment.
Key Responsibilities
Drivers are responsible for the safe and efficient transport of specialized freight, including lumber, coils, machinery, rebar, and oversized loads. Duties include performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections, securing loads using tarps, chains, straps, and binders, and ensuring compliance with all federal and state regulations. Weekly routes are structured to allow predictable weekend home time with minimum 34-hour resets, typically yielding 46-53 hours at home.
Compensation and Incentives
This role offers weekly pay between $1,250 and $1,450 depending on miles, load type, and performance. Drivers earn a competitive per-mile rate, plus additional pay for detention, breakdown assistance, and tarp handling. Incentive programs reward top performers, and a minimum weekly pay guarantee is in effect after the first month. New drivers may also qualify for orientation pay upon completion of the onboarding program.
Equipment
CK Transportation provides well-maintained Peterbilt 579 tractors averaging 1.5 years old. These vehicles are equipped with high-roof sleepers, inverters, Sirius XM, TV mounts, dual drive tires, and Espar bunk heaters. Safety features include front-facing cameras that monitor road conditions without recording inside the cab.
Requirements
• Valid Class A CDL and medical certification
• At least 12 months of recent OTR driving experience, including flatbed
• Ability to perform cargo securement and handle specialized freight
• TWIC card possession or willingness to obtain
• Clean driving record and adherence to safety protocols
