Transit Driver(Non-CDL), Part-time

Job Description:

The part-time Non-CDL Transit Driver position will drive City of Weirton busses and provide excellent customer service to all passengers. Duties include the proper completion of the pre-trip inspection sheet, passenger log, and defensive driving forms; proper operation of the mobility device, lift, and accessibility equipment/features; securing the mobility devices; and proper completion of any City accident reporting procedures. Positions average 24 hours per week . Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Safely driving a bus or van.
• Efficient and courteous service to all passengers.
• Safe operation of all assigned vehicles.
• Obey all traffic laws and regulations.
• Cleaning the interior and exterior of assigned vehicle.
• Accepting passes, trip tickets and or cash.
• Perform and document pre-trip procedures.
• Completion of passenger counts, time sheets and accident reports, if needed.
• Loading and unloading ADA passengers via available equipment.
• Operate ADA lift manually, if necessary.
• Announce stops on route.
• Manually operate fare box.
• Report to work on time.
• Adhere to department dress code.
• Perform related work and other duties as assigned by the Transit Director, Administrative Assistant, and Dispatcher.

Qualifications

• Valid Class E Driver's License (CDL not necessary).

Working Conditions

• While performing the duties of the job, transit driver may be exposed to various weather conditions.

Physical Requirements

• Applicant must be in good physical condition, able to talk, hear and see.
• Work will occasionally require the ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
• Work will require the ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
• Work will require the ability to withstand both hot and cold weather conditions.
• Work will require occasional kneeling and bending to secure mobility devices.
• Work requires occasional pushing and pulling of mobility devices.

Other Requirements

• Must pass physical examination, including drug and alcohol screening.
• Must pass a criminal background check, including driver license record check.
