Job Status: Full-Time

Hour Per Week: 40+

Position Description

The primary function of a Heavy Haul Driver is to drive a flat bed, heavy duty flat bed, tractor with Landoll trailer, tractor with flat deck or drop deck trailer, and a tractor with a Lowboy trailer. Driver will use this equipment to move objects or heavy equipment for customers. This is a full-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Heavy Haul Coordinator.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Able to drive all vehicles assigned, which may include manual transmissions.
  • Maneuver trucks into loading and unloading positions, checking that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned.
  • Load cargo in a safe manner as trained, including operating heavy equipment as required to load/unload.
  • Responsible for general maintenance of truck, including but not limited to: checking oil and fuel levels.
  • Complete all "pre-trip" requirements before each truck run and "post-trip" requirement at the end of each shift.
  • Able to push 96 pounds and pull 130 pounds and lift 63 pounds.
  • Able to climb ladder with a minimum of 3 rungs regularly.
  • Able to read and navigate road maps and GPS systems.
  • Confirm that all necessary permits are obtained before delivering load.
  • Able to drive in hazardous conditions, including inclement weather, tight quarters, and inner-city locations.
  • Handle exposure to heavy traffic, dust, fumes, high and low temperatures, slippery surfaces, low-lighted work areas and high noise levels.
  • Able to communicate via written orders and instructions.
  • Demonstrate professionalism; be courteous and friendly to customers and co-workers at all times.
  • Follow company quality, safety and environmental guidelines as well as employee handbook policies.
  • Regular and reliable attendance and presence at work.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Able to effectively perform responsibilities under a high level of stress.
  • Operate in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Preform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications/Experience/Education:

  • 3+ years truck driving experience.
  • Valid CDL class A license required. Hazmat endorsement preferred.
  • Able to pass pre-employment DOT physical, drug screen, Clearinghouse verification and 7-year criminal background check.
