Full Description

Primary Purpose: Load, transport, and unload equipment to and from customer and company work sites which may include local and/or over the road (overnight) hauling. Perform basic maintenance on company vehicles as needed.

Essential Functions: Performs under limited supervision.

? Driver

o Inspect delivery truck/semi and trailer for defects before, during, and after trips. Report any discrepancies indicating truck condition to the Transportation Foreman or Coordinator.

o Visually inspect motors and components for loose or missing parts before loading and unloading.

o Isolate and secure separate components within the same motor to ensure safe delivery and loading.

o Wrap, pad, and tarp the load to protect customer and company property.

o Load and secure all types and sizes of motors, panels, drives, transformers, generators, motor components, electrical equipment, and/or rotating apparatus on flatbed trucks and trailers using various types of portable transport stands, cribbing, proper rigging and lift equipment. Loading may occur at FLANDERS' facilities and/or customer sites.

o Load, secure, tarp, and transport new vehicles and specialized shop equipment including mills, lathes, bridge cranes, ovens, or other equipment/components.

o Secure and tie equipment correctly on trailer to ensure safe transportation following all company and DOT guidelines.

o Transport all types of specialized heavy hauls utilizing flatbed trucks and various types of flatbed trailers including low boys, step decks, and detachable necks.

o Haul complex loads including float sync roters in field frames on adjustable stands, sync motors and generators without shipping stand.

o Transport overweight and/or over dimension loads following all State and Federal provisions. May utilize special hauling equipment up to and including a 13 axle combination vehicle.

o Safely drive loads and maneuver on roadways, company sites, and customer sites.

o Adjust brush boxes on generators to ensure proper clearance around the commutator to avoid damage.

o Unload all types and sizes of electric motors, generators, motor components, panels, drives and/or electrical equipment on flatbed trucks and trailers using proper rigging and lift equipment.

o Prepare and unload motors and/or components for long-term storage and transport to FLANDERS' warehouse.

o Ensure motors and components are being handled properly, during loading and unloading, to safeguard proper operation and safety post installation at FLANDERS' and customer sites.

o Instruct and direct customers and/or third party rigging companies at customer work sites on proper rigging to load and unload motors and components to ensure no damage.

o Relay motor specific information to customers and from customers to the shop.

o Communicate effectively (frequently) with customers, third party companies, and/or supervision in person or over the phone during transportation, loading, or unloading of equipment.

o Maintain a calm and professional demeanor when dealing with stressful and/or emergency situations.

o Be knowledgeable of and observe all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations to ensure safe transportation of equipment.

o Maintain and keep up to date all DOT paperwork.

o Assist Field Service employees as needed on customer job sites.

o Operate all types and sizes of overhead cranes up to 110 ton.

o Operate man lifts, boom trucks, and off road forklifts with ratings up to 25,000 pounds.

o Perform preventative maintenance on company equipment and vehicles as needed including lube, oil, and filter changes.

o Train new Drivers as requested.

o Provide assistance to various departments as business needs arise.

o Observe all safety procedures and use proper safety equipment as needed.

o Maintain a clean, neat, and safe work environment at all times.

o Operate and maintain equipment in a safe manner at all times.

o Promote strong company image and maintain positive working relationships at all times including professional behavior with customers (frequently) and co-workers (daily basis).

Requirements:

? Education:

o High school diploma or equivalent

? Experience:

o One year of tractor trailer/commercial driving required with good driving record or a graduate of an accredited truck driver training school.

? Other:

o Must be 21 years of age per DOT regulations.

o Hold and maintain a valid DOT medical card.

o Hold and maintain a CDL Class A license.

o Ability to pass specified MSHA training.

o Ability to obtain Basic Orientation Plus Training (BOP) per customer requirements.

o Ability to obtain, hold, and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC) via the federal government.

o Ability to take and pass customer specific safety training per customer requirements.

o Ability to work independently and make decisions within DOT guidelines.

o Knowledge of motors and their components.

o Knowledge of motor weights with the ability to place motors in proper position on trailer and/or truck for proper weight distribution.

o Ability to perform basic math functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division.

o Ability to read, write, and comprehend moderately complex written and verbal instructions including road maps and driving directions.

o Ability to understand, perform, and retain various job related training, operational, and safety procedures.

o Ability to exercise initiative, judgment, and decision making related to non-routine duties within company/DOT standards.

o Although seldom, ability to work in confined spaces.

o Overnight travel required of approximately three days in length on a rather frequent basis (20% of the time but may fluctuate based on business needs).
