Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of a Caltrans Maintenance Supervisor or a Caltrans Maintenance Leadworker, is responsible for and performs work above or below 100 ft on bridge structures ladders, personnel hoist, platforms and catwalks positioned over highways or freeways. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and accomplish miscellaneous labor work and equipment operation in connection with the maintenance on state highways and facilities. Work assignments will be within the eleven counties of the District and will require up to 90% travel from HQ station. Will be required to work snow removal in winter months. Sign Crew; Operates maintenance and construction equipment requiring a Class A California Drivers License, performs work above or below 100 ft on bridge structures ladders, personnel hoist, platforms and catwalks positioned over highways or freeways. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. May be required to accomplish miscellaneous labor work and equipment operation in connection with the maintenance on state highways and facilities. Perform heavy manual labor, operate handheld power tools, and pavement breaker. Assist in loading and unloading material on various assignments. Ability to operate various equipment such as lift bed trucks, personnel lift trucks and digger derrick.

Working Conditions

Position located at 1403 Furneaux Road, Olivehurst, Yuba County.

Multiple positions may be filled from this recruitment.

The scheduling for this crew is 4/10's year around.

Required to work in a wide range of sometimes extreme conditions, including heat up to 120 degrees, cold to -15 degrees, strong winds, rain, sleet, and snow.

Will be required to work overtime due to storms, emergencies, special work projects, or when the Supervisor deems that it is in the best interest of the State to work overtime.

New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.
