POSITION GOAL

To provide functional guidance to employees in assigned area of responsibility and to perform duties involved in the maintenance and repair of Broward County School Board owned vehicles.

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved General Educational Development (GED) Testing Program.
• Must have at least five years recent experience as a journeyman of the trade, plus six months experience with The School Board of Broward County, Florida, Vehicle Maintenance Department.
• Must be able to work from sketches and to estimate materials, supplies, and costs. Must be able to assume responsibility and follow both written and oral instructions. Must be able to work well with others and instruct personnel in the proper work procedures to accomplish various assignments. Must provide own hand tools of the trade (when applicable). Must have a valid Class "A" Florida commercial driver's license with endorsements compatible with the assigned duties of The School Board of Broward County, Florida. Must have obtained School Bus Inspector certification from the Florida Department of Education (DOE) by the date of application.
• The required DOE certification must be renewed so that the employee is fully certified at all times. Failure by the employee to meet the certification requirements shall result in the employee's not being reappointed to this position.
• The School Board of Broward County, Florida by approving this job description authorizes the certification requirements to be changed by the Manager I, Vehicle Maintenance to maintain consistency with changes made by the DOE.
• This position will include pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
• Computer skills as required for the position.
