Job Summary:

This position is responsible for transporting finished goods and raw materials over land to and from manufacturing plants or retail and distribution centers, inspecting vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and planning routes and meeting delivery schedules.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensure safe and timely delivery of freight to customer appointments.
• Safely maneuver tractor-trailers at customer docks for loading and unloading.
• Complete all required paperwork in a professional and timely manner, including but limited to, bills of lading.
• Maintain cleanliness of company-owned equipment.
• Keep tractor and reefers properly fueled at all times.
• Use excellent communication with dispatch and compliance with any delivery or safety concerns while on the road.
• Understand and follow all Department of Transportation rules and regulations as well as company policy.
• Complete proper pre and post trip inspections on all equipment per company requirements.
• Comply with all hours of service requirements using provided Electronic Logging Device (ELD).
• Report mechanical problems to maintenance using the Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR) section of the ELD.
• Route-plan all trips in advance to ensure on-time delivery or pickup.
• Maintain a positive attitude with customers and RMI employees.

• Must be able to pass DOT drug and alcohol tests, including random testing.
• Must meet driver requirements as outlined in company policy.
• Must have a current and valid medical certificate as noted on their motor vehicle report (MVR).
• Ability to safely operate tandem tractor-trailer equipment with 53 ft. trailers in all types of circumstances including intercity, inter-state, and intra-city travel.
