UTILITY SERVICES TECHNICIAN I / II / III
This recruitment is open until the position is filled.

Note: Job titles will change to Utility Services Technician, Senior Utility Services Technician and Principal Utility Services Technician on July 1, 2025.
Pay Grades: 104, 106 and 108
Hourly Salary Range:
Utility Services Technician I - $21.00 - $30.96
Utility Services Technician II - $23.17 - $34.18
Utility Services Technician III - $25.52 - $37.64
The successful candidate's placement in the salary range will depend upon previous experience in a similar role. The placement shall not exceed the midpoint of the salary range.
This position is part of a flexible classification. Qualified candidates may be hired at either level based on their experience, education and training as determined by the hiring authority.

DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this position is to perform work in the installation, maintenance and repair of the City's water distribution, wastewater collection and stormwater collection systems.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Work Experience
Utility Services Technician I
Requires one (1) year of experience with installation, maintenance, or repair in general construction, plumbing, sprinkler systems, HVAC systems, mechanical work or other related activities.
Utility Services Technician II
Requires one (1) year of experience in the installation, maintenance, inspection and repair of water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure for a utility.
Utility Services Technician III
Requires two (2) years of experience in the installation, maintenance, inspection and repair of water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure for a utility.
Candidates must have the minimum amount of work experience. Years of experience are based upon a full-time work schedule (2,080 hours per year). The sum of an applicant's full-time and/or part-time qualifying work experience must meet or exceed the stated minimum qualification. Education will not substitute for the required work experience; however, related unpaid and/or volunteer work experience may be used as qualifying work experience.

Utility Services Technician I
ADEQ Grade 1 Water Distribution System Operator Certification and an ADEQ Grade 1 Wastewater Collection System Operator Certification.
Utility Services Technician II
ADEQ Grade 2 Water Distribution System Operator Certification and an ADEQ Grade 2 Wastewater Collection System Operator Certification.
Utility Services Technician III
