The Opportunity
WSDOT is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join our team at the senior, specialist, or lead level as a key contributor to the maintenance and installation of highway signage and traffic control devices. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting safe travel across the region by assembling, erecting, maintaining, and repairing signs, pavement markings, and related infrastructure. Whether operating independently in the field or leading a crew in a central sign shop, your leadership and expertise will help guide others while ensuring our roadways remain clearly marked and safely navigable for all travelers. Success in this position requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of traffic control standards, the ability to work independently or lead a team, and hands-on experience with tools, materials, and fabrication techniques used in sign and pavement marking maintenance.
What to Expect
This position performs work that is often physical in nature and primarily outdoors in all types of weather conditions. Work duties may be performed at elevated heights, above 300 feet over land or water, and may also work out of a bucket truck up to 50 feet high. Typical schedule is Monday through Thursday, 40-hours per week, for 4, 10-hour days. Weekends and holidays may be required to respond to non-scheduled or call-out emergencies.
