Hours/Shift
Must be available to work the following schedule.
Primary Role
Maintains, installs, and repairs plant equipment and operates plant associated facilities.
Key Accountabilities
Troubleshoots, installs, operates, maintains, inspects, repairs, and performs preventive maintenance duties on the equipment at the water purification plants including, but not limited to, pumps, blowers, motors, chemical feed equipment, screens, mixers, filters, flow meters, gauges, valves, wash water processing equipment and related instrumentation and control equipment.
Calibrates and adjusts chemical feed and process equipment including instrumentation and control systems.
Monitors the water purification plants and makes adjustments as necessary to control their operations.
Performs sampling, testing, and laboratory analysis to monitor process and determine compliance with Federal, State, and PAW's standards.
Performs necessary emergency operating procedures and takes proper corrective action for continuous effective operation of the water purification plants.
Maintains all necessary records, tools, and work equipment.
Performs maintenance and custodial duties at the water purification plants.
Key Accountabilities Cont'd
Performs light construction projects as needed including carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, masonry, etc.
Specifies and initiates orders for parts and supplies.
Assumes duties of Plant Operator in the absence of the Operator.
Performs delivery, loading, unloading, and placing of water treatment chemicals into storage, including chemical receiving and inventory.
Maintains grounds, buildings, roadways, screens, reservoirs, and right- of-ways.
Knowledge/Skills
Mechanical ability sufficient to understand the operation of pumps, valves, motors, and other mechanical equipment related to plant operation and maintenance.
Knowledge of basic scientific and water purification concepts.

Position is subject to 24 hour call-out and overtime.
Valid Driver's License and ability to pass motor vehicle background check.
Class A CDL preferred.
Water or Waste Water License preferred.
The state of Virginia offers out of state reciprocity for licensing.
