Key Responsibilities:
Operate both tank wagons and tractor-trailers, adapting to daily assignments as needed.
Work up to 6 days a week based on business demand.
Safely transport liquid bulk materials to and from customer locations within the local area.
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
Load and unload tanker trucks, sometimes using hoses or pumps, while following all safety protocols.
Maintain accurate records of deliveries, inspections, and any incidents.
Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to coordinate delivery schedules.
Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations regarding the transportation of hazardous materials.
Maintain a steady workload by meeting required mileage or hours to contribute to operational success.
Requirements
Altom Transport maintains a strong safety-first culture and detailed driver qualification standards. Below is a consolidated overview of the key licensing requirements, experience expectations, and safety program best practices for new hires:
Valid CDL Class A License
Tanker Endorsement (N) - Required
Hazmat Endorsement (H) - Preferred (must obtain within 90 days of hire; assistance available)
TWIC Card - Preferred (or must obtain after hire)
At least 23 years of age
Clean MVR and strong safety record
Able to pass DOT physical, drug screening, and background check
Dependable, safety-minded, and capable of working independently
Willing to work flexible schedules, including 24/7 operations if needed
Minimum 1 year of verifiable tanker driving experience
Minimum of 2 years of verifiable tanker experience within the last 5 years
No DUI/OWI on record within the last 5 years
Cannot be prohibited in the FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse
No at fault/preventable fatal or rollover accident in the last 5 years
No more than 2 moving violations in the last 3 years
No more than 2 CSA moving violations in the last 18 months
No falsification on the driver's application
Must hold a current X endorsement
1-week minimum new hire in-person training
Quarterly mandatory safety meetings with employees
HM 232 Compliance & Emergency Response Plan provided
General Awareness testing in accordance with 49 CFR 172-part H
Drug & Alcohol Policy & DOT Compliance
Forward Facing cameras on all Altom and Contractor equipment
All Company equipment is governed
Incident & Accident Investigation Program including driver reporting requirements and injury investigations
RCMS Certified/HSE policy
PPE provided and replacement policy guidelines
