Full Description
Pay Range: $30-33/Hour
TENTATIVE WORK SCHEDULE
This position primarily supports OTR runs between Southern California and the Bay Area.
Start times may vary depending on load schedules and operational needs. Local work in
City of Industry or the Bay Area may be assigned as needed.
*Please note that this schedule is subject to change based on business needs and
operational requirements. Overtime may be required to ensure completion of work, and
shifts may extend until tasks are completed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Drive and operate trucks for long-haul routes between Southern California and the Bay Area.
- Perform both pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure the truck is compliant and safe to operate.
- Perform daily maintenance of the truck (refueling, cleaning, etc.).
- Ensure the truck always has sufficient fuel.
- Pick up goods and materials, verify loads for accuracy and compliance, and deliver as instructed.
- Pick up and deliver container to and from port terminals in Los Angeles, Long Beach, Oakland.
- Load and unload cargo (if applicable).
- Properly secure cargo to prevent damages and/or injuries.
- Report all damages and/or injuries in a timely manner.
- Complete and verify paperwork for accuracy.
- Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive according to weather and road conditions.
- Adhere to ALL company safety practices, policies, and procedures, including DOT requirements.
- Adhere to company rules and regulations.
- Always make safety a priority.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Communicate professionally with customers, dispatch, and co-workers.
- Maintain open communication with supervisors, dispatch, and customers.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- Must have a current Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A.
- Hazmat (H) endorsement and TWIC card required.
- Driver history must consist of no violations, at-fault accidents, or traffic-related
convictions within 3 years.
- No DUI/DWI convictions.
- 3-5 years of driving experience (OTR or regional experience preferred).
- Port experience preferred (Los Angeles, Long Beach, Oakland)
- A current DHR from the DMV is required.
- Ability to drive safely irrespective of weather, terrain, or time of day.
- Must be able to pass and complete a pre-employment DOT physical exam & drug test to obtain a Medical Card as required by the DOT.
- Proficient in using GPS and routing systems.
- High level of composure and strong stress-management skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
-Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
-Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
-Enter and exit equipment by stepping and kneeling.
-Crouch and squat for inspections.
