- You enable continuity of care for patients and service members
- You contribute to national medical readiness and emergency response
- You help ensure operational excellence within one of the country's most important military medical facilities
Location (On-Site): Walter Reed Medical Center, Bethesda, MD
Job Type: Full-time with Some Overtime Hours at Time and a Half Rates
Duties:
- Provide transportation support to the Department of Patient Administration MEDEVAC team when required.
- Provide transportation support to hospital staff and Troop Command when required
- Provide transportation support to Wounded Warriors for event transportation.
- Perform required administrative duties
- Provide customer service to the entire hospital community through knowledge and phone courtesy.
- Vehicles driven will include:
- Patient Evacuation Vehicle (PEV)
- Medical Ambus 44 passenger
- Ambulances
- Luggage Truck
- All Airbrake vehicles
- Vans, sedans, pick-ups, SUV's
Qualifications:
- Must be a US Citizen (required)
- Must be able to successfully pass a Tier III background investigation and suitability and maintain good standing (required)
- Have a CDL Class A with Passenger (P) and Airbrake Endorsements (required)
- Have 7+ years' experience as a driver in the National Capital Region (required)
- Have basic computer skills
- Have a High School Diploma or Equivalency Licensure/Certification/Registration (required)
- Be able to successfully complete Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) and maintain certification as required
- Be able to complete GSA Defensive Driver's Course within 90 days of being on board
- Be able to remain current with licensing/certificates/training by Continuing Education
- Be able to read, write, speak and understand English well enough to effectively communicate with customers, supervisor and dispatchers for assignments, route information and customer service
