Work Activities: key tasks and responsibilities

  • Class "A" CDL is required with flatbed experience.
  • 3 years' experience, minimum
  • Local Deliveries
  • Pass drug/alcohol and background checks.
  • Responsible to have knowledge of Mankato area and surrounding Southern Minnesota.
  • Support the transportation of materials to vendors for additional processing
  • Support the preparation of finished goods prior to shipment, including label application, quality verification, and installing access cover.
  • Ensure necessary paperwork is included with every load transported to and from CAB Construction.
  • Some heavy lifting up to 75 lbs.
  • Forklift experience preferred.
  • Responsible to load and secure own loads. Assist in the unloading of customer loads.
  • Winter tarp requirement is requested by Customer.
  • Support Material Handling for production, from raw material through each function process and then shipment. Coordinate your efforts with Production Leads and Foreman.
  • Support off-loading of raw materials as they arrive at CAB Construction and place in storage locations.
  • Support the movement of job raw material kits, welded jobs to the wash bay and movement of finished goods prior to shipment. Take away the need for others to get on a forklift.
  • Work with Production Leads and Foreman, to maximize your productivity with both driving and material movement throughout production through advance planning of your activities.
  • Support the organization of the outside yard to maximize efficiency of material movement.
  • Operate all vehicles with the required safety PPE, including forklifts.
  • Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking, break periods, etc.) as well as with company policies and procedures.
  • Promote teamwork through helping others
  • When available, support garbage and scrap metal disposal.
  • Able to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Able to work without supervision.
  • Make recommendations to improve the flow of product.
  • Participate in process improvement, Lean Manufacturing events.
  • Overtime as required on a daily or weekly basis.
  • Available for weekend work as needed.
  • Metal fabrication and/or welding experience are a plus.
  • This is a safety sensitive position due to handling heavy material and operating forklifts. This could cause harm to yourself or others.

Hours
  • Forty-hour work week.
  • Occasional overtime, especially when working with customer or production deadlines.
  • This position is an hourly position.

Education
  • Some high school education and/or GED required.
  • Current CDL license and clean driving record preferred.
  • Current forklift license strongly desired.

Experience
  • Prior experience driving semi-tractors and trailers required.
  • Prior experience with inventory, shipping and receiving strongly desired.
  • Prior experience with material handling equipment, such as forklifts desired.
