POSITION FUNCTION SUMMARY
To empower students with the skills to become responsible citizens within their own abilities.

Teacher Duties and Responsibilities
-
Designs and implements authentic and engaging learning experiences using the New Mexico Adopted Content Standards, WIDA/ELD standards and the Carlsbad Municipal Schools adopted curriculum.

Accurately demonstrates knowledge of the content area and uses the approved curriculum with fidelity.

Gives clear expectations relating to lesson content and procedure.

Communicates accurately in the content area.

Shows inter relatedness across content areas.

Use teaching techniques which address student learning levels, rates, and styles.

Uses materials and media which address student learning levels, rates, and styles.

Provides small group, one to one instruction when needed.

Uses teaching and learning strategies to recognize student diversity and culture. Creates an atmosphere conducive to positive student involvement and self-concept.

Uses a variety of tools, instructional resources, and teaching modalities to personalize and enhance instruction based upon the needs of students.

Establishes a safe and supportive environment that is conducive to learning and enables each student to demonstrate agency, ownership, and reflection.

Comprehends the principles of student growth, development, and the teaching learning cycle, and actively applies them appropriately.

Comprehends and actively implements New Mexico's Multi Layered System of Supports (MLSS) to support holistic student success.

Understand and actively participate in the development, use and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEP), Individual Transition /504 plans, and Academic Improvement Plans, including making necessary modifications.

Adheres to Carlsbad Municipal Schools assessment and grading policy and guidelines.

Assesses student growth as related to educational goals, objectives, and outcomes.

Actively uses and analyzes a variety of assessment tools and data to drive instruction, implement strategies and offer remediation.

Actively maintains records of student progress and communicates student progress with students and families in a timely manner.

Maintains communication and notify parents of struggling students.

Works in a collaborative and supportive manner with colleagues, students, parents, and the community to promote and support student learning.

Communicates in a professional manner with colleagues, parents, and community members regarding educational matters.

Works with administration to meet professional requirements and responsibilities.

Is punctual in attendance and in responding to timeline and due dates.

Maintains a professional appearance in accordance with the dress code policy established by Carlsbad Municipal Schools.

Serves duties and supervises students as assigned.

Leaves adequate preparations for a substitute.

Serves on committees requested.

Keeps teaching credentials current.

When assigned, direct the work of teacher assistants, student teachers, and volunteers to provide an effective learning environment.

Supports and actively participates in the school's professional learning community to deepen the understanding of curriculum, content, competencies, assessment, and the developmental needs of students.

Creates a positive atmosphere and arranges the physical environment of the classroom for optimum learning.
Seeks out information on methodology, research, current trends in education to enhance student learning.

?Education and Experience Required

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college.

A valid New Mexico Secondary teaching license with endorsements as needed.

?Endorsement will be in Performing Arts OR

Specialty license with endorsement in Performing Arts

Must be able to pass employment verification.

Language Requirements (Required)

Ability to read and write English to understand and interpret written procedures and technical manuals. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisors, co-workers, students, and stakeholders.
