Full Description
Position Summary
Perform restoration procedures on all body parts of automotive vehicles including trucks, trolleys and buses; install glass, paint and perform a variety of other restoration activities and perform a variety of other related activities in support of the maintenance and restoration of City vehicles.
This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug/alcohol testing.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements
Education directly related to the minimum requirements below may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
High school diploma or GED plus a two (2) year technical certificate or training in automotive repair; and
Two (2) years of vehicle restoration experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a valid City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
Possession of a valid New Mexico Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A within six (6) months from date of hire.
Possession of an AC recovery and CNG fuel certificate within six (6) months from date of hire.
Preferred Knowledge
- Principles and practices of vehicle body repair
- Methods and techniques of vehicle painting
- Principles and practices of upholstery replacement
- Principles and practices of plastic and metal welding procedures
- Body restoration tools and equipment including hydraulic jacks, pulling devices and body filler
Preferred Skills & Abilities
- Perform a variety of restoration and repair on body of vehicles
- Perform glass installation duties
- Paint vehicles and refurbish interior
- Operate tools and equipment used in vehicle restoration activities
- Work independently in the absence of supervision
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Communicate clearly and concisely
- Perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
