ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Applicant must possess a valid Class A CDL and a clean driving record.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Qualifications
Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent; and one (1) year operating comparable class trucks and in making minor repairs and adjustments on comparable equipment; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License Class A and a clean driving record.
Special Requirements
All applicants are subject to pre-employment drug testing; individual in this position will be subject random drug & alcohol testing.
Miscellaneous Information
Days & Hours: Monday - Friday 5:30 AM - 2:00 PM
- Drives and/or loads a variety of refuse collection trucks along a variety of fixed collection routes; may transport waste over-the-road between transfer station and landfill.
- Delivers trash from the transfer station to the landfill.
- Ensures that trucks are properly loaded and secured.
- Observes all state and federal highway laws for safe operation of vehicle.
- Performs operator maintenance on the vehicle (including washing, cleaning, check tire pressure, etc.).
- Inspects vehicle before, during, and after operation to detect improper operation and/or any non-compliance with DOT rules and regulations.
- Instructs and supervises assigned helper relative to operation of the truck, collection body, and safety.
- Inspects condition and serviceability of refuse containers on the route, if applicable, and reports unsatisfactory conditions to supervisor.
- Sorts trash in transfer station to separate wood, metals, and concrete to place in correct places.
- Operates other equipment such as bobcat and backhoe.
- Helps clean areas under transfer station.
- Cleans out front of trailers to ensure proper operation on trailer blades.
- Occasionally operates roll off and/or bin truck. Occasionally rides with commercial front load trucks as a helper to assist in backing up and safety.
- Performs any other related duties as required or assigned.
