The Road & Bridge Field Supervisor plays a vital leadership role in Clay County's infrastructure operations. This position is responsible for supervising and training road and bridge work crews, addressing safety concerns proactively, and participating in the hiring process through interview assistance. Additionally, the Field Supervisor serves as a point of contact for after-hours emergencies, ensuring swift response and coordination during urgent situations.
The Field Supervisor oversees maintenance and repair work on county roads, ditches, culverts, bridges, and rights-of-way year-round. Responsibilities include managing tasks such as brush cutting, road patching, rock hauling, snow removal, and clearing illegally dumped debris. The crews under their supervision include personnel across four operator skill levels (Operator through Operator III), who work with a range of equipment from light-duty trucks to, occasionally, heavy machinery. As such, the Field Supervisor must have practical experience with equipment operation and maintenance.
This role requires a minimum of a Class A CDL with Tanker and HazMat endorsements, along with the ability to operate vehicles and equipment under both standard and emergency conditions.
The Field Supervisor works a four-day week, Monday through Thursday, from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM, and will be on-call for emergency responses and severe weather events.
The hourly salary, DOE, starts at $29.73 - $30.93. Along with a competitive salary, the County offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes:

- Choice of three medical plans including two high deductible plans with County funded HSA and optional dental, vision, flexible spending, and supplemental plans
- Life insurance (2x annual salary) paid by the County
