Truck Driver (CDL Class A)
The starting pay rate for this position is $29.84 followed by an increase to $31.34 after completing probation (typically six months).
Colorado Springs Utilities is hiring a Truck Driver with a primary focus in tandem driving to support water construction projects. If you have experience safely operating tandem dump trucks, roll-off trucks, and a variety of heavy machinery (e.g., front end loaders, backhoes, skid steers), and possess a Class A Commercial Driver's License, we want to hear from you!
What Else Will You be Doing?
- Safely operating roll-off truck and tandem dump truck in support of utility installation and maintenance, debris transportation, and aggregate stockpiling at out facilities
- Loading and unloading materials and any contents from the truck, both with and without assistance
- Operating hydraulic hand controls to lift/load refuse and disposing of solid waste and recyclables at designated facilities
- Safely hauling materials that may require navigation through congested and confined areas
- Performing routine inspection and maintenance on vehicles such as checking fluids, safety equipment, and tires
- Performing pre-and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicles using utilizing standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report) - and noting all issues on DVIR form for corrective review/repair
- Operating various types of heavy machinery including but not limited to front end loaders, backhoes, skid steers, and ride on compactors
- Assisting Gravel Production crews in mining and recycling activities using vibratory screen plants, impact crushers, and conveyor belts
Please note that the successful candidate must be flexible to work multiple rotating shifts which may include weekends, nights, and on-call hours. Additionally, overtime may be required as needed.
Who You Are
- Demonstrated experience with safely operating larger trucks, preferably roll-off trucks and tandem dump trucks
- Possession of a valid, unrestricted driver's license
- Possession of a Class A CDL
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work. Positions in this class typically require exposure in all weather conditions.
