We are currently seeking a dependable Class A CDL Driver based in the Mobile, AL area to haul biosolids using end-dump trailers throughout the Southeast. This position is ideal for a professional driver who values safety, enjoys travel, and is willing to contribute in multiple areas of our operation.

Position Summary

The Class A CDL Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of biosolids from customer job sites to approved landfills and agricultural application sites. Drivers will primarily operate end-dump trailers and combination vehicles throughout the Southeast, with extensive overnight travel required based on project needs.

This position offers primarily daylight work hours, although schedules may vary depending on customer demands and project requirements. When trucking operations are slow, drivers who are willing to assist with operating other equipment and supporting field operations are highly valued.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Safely operate Class A commercial vehicles, including end-dump trailers and combination vehicles.
  • Haul biosolids from customer job sites to approved landfills and agricultural land application sites.
  • Travel extensively throughout Alabama and the Southeastern United States based on operational needs.
  • Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections in accordance with DOT regulations and company policies.
  • Load, transport, and unload materials safely while maintaining compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and basic preventative maintenance of assigned equipment.
  • Utilize hand tools to perform minor repairs on trailers, bins, and company equipment.
  • Assist with operating other company equipment during periods when transportation needs are limited.
  • Complete Electronic Logging Device (ELD) records accurately and maintain DOT compliance.
  • Submit service tickets, contamination reports, maintenance documentation, and other required paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, dispatch, operations personnel, and vendors.
  • Immediately report all accidents, incidents, equipment damage, or injuries.
  • Participate in weekly safety meetings, training sessions, and company communications.
  • Utilize company-issued computers and mobile devices for communication, training, expense reporting, and operational updates.
  • Work flexible schedules based on project demands, including seasonal overtime when required (up to 60 hours in 7 days or 70 hours in 8 days).

Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement.
  • Minimum one (1) year of verifiable tractor-trailer driving experience.
  • Current DOT Medical Card.
  • Experience operating both manual and automatic transmission vehicles.
  • Experience using Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs), such as PeopleNet or similar systems.
  • Ability to travel extensively and work away from home for extended periods when required.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Basic computer and smartphone proficiency.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform minor equipment repairs is preferred.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems is a plus.
  • End-dump trailer experience is highly preferred.
  • Willingness to operate other equipment and assist field operations when trucking work is limited.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English as required by FMCSA regulations.
  • Must pass:
    • DOT drug screen
    • Background check
    • Road test
    • Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review
  • No DUI or DWI convictions involving a commercial or personal vehicle within the past three (3) years.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and PSP.
  • Stable work history demonstrating reliability and professionalism.
  • Two (2) years of Class A tractor-trailer experience preferred.
  • Experience hauling bulk materials, biosolids, aggregates, or agricultural products.
  • Previous experience operating end-dump trailers, heavy equipment, or hydraulic systems.

Physical Requirements

This position regularly requires the ability to:
  • Sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, bend, reach, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Enter confined spaces when necessary.
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Be exposed to dust, mud, heat, cold, rain, humidity, and changing environmental conditions.
  • Safely work around moving vehicles, heavy equipment, and hydraulic systems.
  • Communicate effectively in person and by phone.
