Summary

Drives a tractor-trailer and loads and unloads truck.

Essential Functions

• Loads and unloads tanks from any inbound or outbound freight as needed.
• Loads and services shipments properly and safely.
• Inspects all loads to ensure that cargo is secure.
• Reads, reviews, and completes DOT permits, bill of ladings (BOL), and any other paperwork associated with the load.
• Records arrival and offload times on all deliveries.
• Reports any incidents, no matter how minor, to the supervisor immediately.
• Maintains trucks, trailers, and all equipment used to perform job duties and ensures all equipment is in good working order.
• Assures that all personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn on customer locations at all times and when required while at SteelMation.
• Assists personnel in all yard duties when waiting for loads.
• Arrive at destinations on schedule.
• Safely performs all job duties in a timely manner.
• Research and plan for traffic, construction and weather delays.
• Conduct pre-trip inspections with accuracy.
• Keep mileage records and repair records up-to-date.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required:

• Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
• At least one year of experience.
• Ability to interact professionally with colleagues, supervisors, customers, and vendors.
• Ability to work overtime, including weekends, as workload permits and directed by supervisor.
• Excellent navigation skills and proficiency in using navigation applications to find delivery locations.
• Ability to meet consistent attendance.
