Vegetation Manager

Job Summary

Responsible for overseeing and managing all vegetation management activities related to maintaining clearances around powerlines and utility infrastructure. Develop and implement vegetation management plans to ensure the reliable and safe operation of the power utility system. Collaborate with other departments and other stakeholders to address any vegetation related issues or concerns.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Supervise, mentor, and manage a group of vegetation employees.
• Maintain relationships with clients, partners, and other stakeholders.
• Manage the profits and losses of the organization or a specific division.
• Develop goals and initiatives to help direct the overall direction of the organization.
• Guide and train managers regarding the implementation of organizational initiatives and policies.
• Evaluate organizational processes and procedures and assist with continuous improvement of these initiatives.
• Ensure business operations are implemented based on established policies and procedures.
• Maintain regulatory records and paperwork.

Job Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Previous experience in vegetation management industry standards.
• Advanced skills using Microsoft Office Suite.
• Valid CDL A is required.
• First Aid Certification is required.
• Competency in CPR.
• Competent in operating ALL equipment associated with vegetation services.
• Arborist certification and spray. If not may obtain within 6 months of hire.
• Certification in safe traffic control practices and public safety techniques per state and local regulations preferred.
• Must be able to pass drug, alcohol, and background checks.
• Must be able to pass a physical examination.
• Able and willing to travel long distances on short notice.
• Able and willing to work for extended periods in various locations.
• Able and willing to work in all types of weather environments including inclement weather.
• Able and willing to work overtime when required.
• In-depth understanding of the utility industry and operations.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

Working Conditions

• Work is performed outside in all types of weather environments.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to bend, climb, stoop, stand, and lift for long periods of time.
• Substantial movements of the hands, wrists, and/or fingers.
• Required to have close visual acuity to perform job duties.
