GD Resources LLC is seeking a highly qualified Heavy Equipment Transport Driver / Logistics Operator to support the California Army National Guard (CAARNG) Supply and Services Division. This role is critical to maintaining operational readiness through the safe, timely, and compliant transportation of military vehicles, heavy equipment, and essential supplies across California and occasional surrounding states.
The ideal candidate will ensure secure handling, proper dispatch, and compliant transport of government-owned assets in accordance with FMCSA, DOT, California DMV, Army Regulations, and contract requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Transportation & Logistics Operations
- Transport CAARNG vehicles, trailers, forklifts, and heavy equipment across California and occasional out-of-state locations
- Perform scheduled deliveries and pickups based on government coordination meetings
- Utilize front-haul and back-haul routing to maximize efficiency
- Ensure timely delivery of critical military assets to armories and facilities statewide
- Operate heavy equipment and transport vehicles requiring Class A CDL (California domiciled)
- Maintain compliance with FMCSA Hours of Service regulations
- Follow all CA DMV Commercial Driver requirements and DOT safety standards
- Maintain valid medical certification and driving eligibility at all times
- Ensure adherence to Army safety policies, installation rules, and traffic regulations
- Perform Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) before, during, and after trips
- Identify and report mechanical or safety issues immediately
- Ensure equipment is safe for transport prior to departure
- Maintain accountability for all assigned government equipment
- Safely load, unload, and secure heavy equipment and deadlined vehicles
- Comply with all FMCSA cargo securement regulations
- Ensure no damage to government property during transport
- Verify proper dispatch documentation before movement
- Receive and properly dispatch all vehicles through government systems
- Maintain accurate driver logs and hours of service records
- Complete all delivery receipts, signatures, and transport documentation
- Submit all records (fuel, mileage, deliveries) to the COR on schedule
- Use government-issued WEX fuel card only with authorization
- Maintain receipts and fuel usage logs for all transactions
- Report maintenance issues immediately to the COR
- Coordinate emergency roadside support when needed
- Optimize routes to ensure timely and efficient deliveries
- Communicate planned routes with COR prior to departure
- Adjust routes based on operational needs or safety concerns
- Escalate disputes or routing conflicts through proper government channels
- Comply with all installation security policies and access procedures
- Maintain valid background investigation and installation access clearance
- Follow all CAC, OPSEC, and Army security requirements
- Complete mandatory training (AT Level 1, iWATCH, OPSEC, TARP, IA training)
- Maintain accurate driver logs and dispatch records at all times
- Achieve 100% compliance with PMCS procedures
- Complete scheduled deliveries (target: 4-8 weekly missions depending on demand)
- Submit 100% of required receipts and documentation
- Report all maintenance issues within 24 hours
- Maintain valid Class A CDL at all times
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) - California domiciled
- Strong experience operating heavy trucks and hauling oversized equipment
- Knowledge of FMCSA, DOT, and California DMV trucking regulations
- Ability to perform vehicle inspections and load securement
- Experience with military or government logistics preferred
- Clean driving record and ability to pass background investigation
- Daytime operations (government-directed schedule)
- Weekly coordination meetings with CAARNG logistics team
- Occasional overnight travel required (per diem eligible when authorized)
- No service on federal holidays unless mission-critical
- Statewide travel across California (armories and installations)
- Occasional travel to Nevada and nearby states (when authorized)
- Per diem and travel reimbursement governed by Joint Travel Regulation (JTR)
- Heavy equipment (forklifts, trailers, transport vehicles)
- Fuel card (WEX) for authorized use
- Dispatch systems and operational support tools
- Training and access credentials (CAC, DEERS, etc.)
- Reliable, safety-focused professional driver
- Strong understanding of logistics operations and military transport standards
- Ability to operate independently in high-responsibility environments
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Strong compliance mindset and attention to detail
