Full Description
The Laborer is responsible for the general janitorial and labor needs of the unit in which the employee is assigned.
Position Responsibilities - Essential
- Utilize fork truck to move drums, clear large objects, load/unload trucks carrying pipes and valves
- Perform general cleaning using broom or mop and various other cleaning supplies
- Act as a confined space attendant, as needed
- Act as an observer during hot work activities; Perform work while analyzing the impact of the hot work activities
- Shut down hot work equipment and alert workers of plant emergencies and job conditions
- React quickly to work conditions inside a confined space entry or hot work job location
- Initiate the proper response for the situation in the event of an injury, fire, gas release or other emergency
- Remain at the job site for 30 minutes after hot work has been completed
- Work in extreme weather conditions (heat and cold)
- Ensure all safety procedures, practices, and regulations are followed before, during, and after the process to foster a positive safety culture by having a safety-first mindset and approach during execution of activities
- Based on the nature of the essential functions associated with this role, GreenWood has designated this as a "safety-sensitive" position.
Position Responsibilities - Non-Essential/Other
- Maintain commercial driver's license for use as needed
- Perform pre/post trip inspections, comply with state/federal hours of service requirements, and operate the vehicle in accordance with DOT regulations as needed if applicable
- Assist with upkeep and cleanliness of work area
- Other duties and special projects as assigned
Essential Skills and Experience
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- One (1) year of fork truck experience
- Ability to observe persons during hot work activities which includes shutting down hot work equipment and alerting workers of plant emergencies and job conditions
- Excellent attention to detail and sense of urgency with the ability to perform work while analyzing the impact of the hot work activities
- Ability to read and understand an O2 analyzer for LEL% and Combustibles
- Ability to walk up and down multiple stairwells
- Experience demonstrating successful support of a positive safety culture
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation(s)
Beneficial Skills and Experience
- Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures with the industry
- Possession of valid CDL (Commercial Driver's License) and qualifying MVR if applicable
- Familiarity with local, state, and federal safety rules and regulations and OSHA requirements to include 49 CFR §391
