CDL Driver Summary:
The CDL Driver (Class B) is responsible for safely transporting tree care equipment, debris, and crew members to and from job sites. This role plays a critical part in supporting field operations, maintaining equipment, and ensuring that daily project logistics run smoothly and safely.
Duties/ Responsibilities
Safely operate company vehicles, including trucks with trailers, chip trucks, and other vehicles requiring a Class B CDL. Grapple Truck experience preferred.
Transport crews, tools, heavy equipment (such as chippers, stump grinders, skid steers), and tree debris between locations.
Assist the crew with ground operations, including debris removal, chipping brush, and general clean-up as needed.
Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and trailers to ensure safety and compliance.
Maintain accurate driving logs and follow all DOT regulations and company policies.
Report any vehicle issues, incidents, or maintenance needs immediately to supervisors.
Assist in loading and securing tools, materials, and debris safely for transportation.
Communicate effectively with crew leaders and supervisors regarding job site logistics and timelines.
Uphold all safety standards while on job sites and public roads.
Represent the company professionally at all times, interacting politely with clients and the public.
Qualifications
Valid CDL Class B license (required).
Clean driving record (MVR) with no major violations.
Previous experience driving commercial vehicles (1+ years preferred).
Ability to tow and maneuver trailers safely and efficiently.
Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
Physical ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs) and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Knowledge of DOT regulations and roadside inspection requirements.
Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift 70 pounds to shoulder height.
Flexibility to squat and bend.
Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods.
Ability to pull body weight up 20 feet and climb a tree.
Ability to work at heights and in all weather conditions.
Must not exceed weight limitations for hydraulic buckets.
