Yard Jockey - Requires CDL A

Hale Trailer Brake & Wheel, Inc is a multi-location, full-service trailer dealership with an immediate opening at its Springfield, MA branch location. We are looking for an experienced Yard Jockey with a CDL A license to join our team of trailer professionals. This individual will perform a variety of yard utility functions, as well as basic mechanical and maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities:

• • Perform yard utility functions, staging trailers in yard, bringing trailers into shop for repairs, parking trailers outside for customer pickups, working in coordination with Service Department schedule and supervisors.
  • Assist technicians and shop personnel with moving equipment, trailers, or materials as needed.
  • Operate a forklift in a safe manner for stacking and unstacking 20' and 40' containers as well as decking and undecking up to a triple stack of flats.
  • Perform routine inspections of yard equipment and report maintenance needs.
  • Perform general facility maintenance including minor repairs, building upkeep, and equipment maintenance.
  • Ensure all containers and trailers are safely and securely parked at the end of each day.
  • Maintain order and cleanliness of the yard, shop, and surrounding property.
  • Support snow removal, landscaping, and seasonal facility maintenance tasks.
  • Work outdoors at times, in varying weather conditions.
  • Perform tasks in an efficient, timely, accurate, professional and safe manner in accordance with all Company policies, DOT, OSHA and other governmental standards and regulations.

• • Must have meaningful / practical work experience as a yard jockey and/or CDL Driver.
  • Must have a current CDL Class A license with current medical certification with a minimum of 2 years trailer driving experience with no accidents, suspensions or moving violations for past 3 years.
  • Must have a strong knowledge regarding the safe handling and operation of trailers, tractors, containers, field offices, forklifts, power jacks, lift gates, power tools, trailer parts and supplies.
  • Must have basic mechanical and/or facility maintenance experience.
  • Must have good communication skills, be highly motivated and possess a positive attitude.
  • Must be able to work independently in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
  • Must adhere to all Company policies including safety policies.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs., stand, bend and climb as needed for extended periods.
  • Must pass a standard pre-employment drug test and physical.
