Full Description

The Load Yard Coordinator is responsible for supporting the yard functions related to safety and quality, including load configuration, freight securement, and equipment condition. To ensure quality and safety, the Load Yard Coordinator will audit loads and declare the truck "held" until the load is adjusted correctly and/or secured in accordance with policies and procedures. He/she will also make recommendations to management when additional training is necessary and will assist in the training the drivers of Southeast Transportation Systems (STS).

Responsibilities:

  • Driver activity during the loading and unloading of vehicles

  • Ensure company safety guidelines are followed by all associates and outside carriers

  • Document & report any associate or outside carrier driver concerns/issues related to safety or conduct

  • Assist Drivers with missing & damaged units

  • Verify units being loaded against bill of lading

  • Coordinate and schedule shuttle flex staff to maintain proper coverage

  • Assist in training of new drivers and report any "retraining" opportunities

  • Assist management team in creating content for and conducting quarterly Driver safety meetings

  • Communicate directly with VPC coordinators to resolve parking issues

  • Ensure the loading yard is safe for drivers and other associates by closing and clearing it during inclement weather or other safety-related issues.

  • Assist management with special operations projects & provide feedback for regular management meetings.

  • Work with logistics expeditors at each VPC on the carriers held file.

Qualifications:

  • Five years of Car-Hauling experience with current Class A CDL

  • Knowledge of dispatch software (TMW)

  • Good communication skills, both written and oral

  • Knowledge of DOT laws and rules

  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations

  • Must be able to maintain a DOT driver's qualification file

  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including travel to all Jacksonville sites including Commerce location

  • Previous supervisor experience or associate's degree
