CDL Class A Yard Driver Needed

Key Job Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the safe operation of equipment (tractor and trailers) following all local, state, federal, DOT laws and company standards.
• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or repairs to dispatch through the successful completion of DVIR's; maintain clean, safe equipment.
• Works in and around the main Yard moving trailers from yard to yard or to dock at the request of the Warehouse and or Transportation department.
• Drive and operate a vehicle under 15 mph in and around the plant and local yards lot/staging area.
• Be cognizant of the reality that the operation is a low mileage severe duty function requiring particular attention to preventive maintenance checks and services as well as actual scheduled vehicle maintenance.
• Drives truck with a capacity of more than 3 tons to transport and deliver cargo or materials.
• Maintains radio or telephone contact with base or supervisor to receive instructions or be dispatched.
• Reports any damages to base or appropriate supervisor, same day.
• Operates equipment on vehicle to load, unload, or disperse cargo or materials.
• Pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure the truck is in working order.
• Must function and interact daily with plant personnel and comply with plant safety requirements.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and the general public.
• Work independently with general instructions understanding prioritizing.
• Other duties will be assigned as necessary by the company.

• Requires Class A CDL
• CDL Drivers must be a minimum of 22 years of age
• Basic English and ability to communicate, understand written and spoken instructions.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Minimum 1-year Hostler/Yard Driver experience driving experience, with an excellent driving record.
• Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills
• Backing: 2-year experience
• Hauling a 53ft trailer (and/or container on chassis)
• Operating 13-speed tractor
• Must be able to work overtime as needed including weekends.

• Lift, carry, push and pull up average 30lbs, up to 50lbs pounds on a routine basis and be physically capable of climbing in a trailer unassisted.
• Perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions.
• Must be able to work overtime as needed including weekends.

• $29.75 per hour.

• Monday-Friday and occasional Saturdays
• 40 hours per week, overtime is required
