Main Industries has been serving the marine and industrial market for over 40 years. Main Industries is currently hiring for a full-time CDL driver Class A for our Hampton location. No relocation or per diem available.
Responsibilities:
Transport equipment and materials over land to and from manufacturing plants or retail and distribution centers
Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance
Plan routes and meet delivery schedules
Document and log work/rest periods and kilometers spent driving and retain fuel/toll receipts
Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures
Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions
Collect and verify delivery instructions
Report defects, accidents or violations
Additional responsibilities may include scaffold racking and stacking, scaffolding handling in a chain line, loading and unloading scaffolding from the truck, and/or scaffold inventory
Job Type: Full-time, hourly Required experience: Two years (2) experience as a CDL Driver.
Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years' old
Proven work experience as a truck driver
Hands on experience with electronic equipment and software (GPS, AVL units, CB, etc.)
Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly
Extensive knowledge of applicable DOT truck driving rules and regulations
No recent moving or driving violations
Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions, etc.)
Willing to submit to background/drug checks and provide employment recommendations
Valid truck driving license
Experience working in a physically demanding environment, confined spaces and working at heights
Understand and carry out verbal directions given by supervisor
Understand and obey all posted warning, caution, notification and/or hazards signs posted on a job site
Must be able to lift 70 lbs. without assistance
Forklift training/certification a plus (additional training will be required once hired for those using a forklift)
Must be able to climb and work at elevated heights, 50+ feet
A criminal background check may be required
Current TWIC badge a plus
Reliable transportation a must
No overtime is guaranteed, but some projects do require overtime. This could be more than 40 hours during the normal Monday Friday work week, work on the weekends or both. Some projects do have a night shift. You will be expected to be at work on all days/nights assigned.
