Position Summary
We're looking for a dependable, safety-conscious CDL Class A Truck Driver to join our Wichita Concrete Pipe, Inc. team. In this role, you'll transport and deliver concrete pipe and precast products to our customers throughout the region while providing excellent service and maintaining a professional attitude.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers or trucks to deliver concrete products to customers
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with customers and coworkers
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure all safety and mechanical equipment is functioning properly
- Secure loads using appropriate equipment (chains, binders, blocks, etc.)
- Maneuver truck and trailer into loading and unloading positions safely
- Maintain accurate driver logs, delivery paperwork, and DOT-required documentation
- Perform basic vehicle maintenance such as checking fluid levels and adding oil or fuel as needed
- Communicate with the Transportation Manager regarding issues, delays, or concerns
- Keep trailers free of debris after unloading
- Collect customer signatures and payments when required
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management
- Valid CDL Class A license (no automatic restriction)
- Minimum of 1 year of commercial driving experience
- Current DOT medical card
- Clean driving record (no DWI/DUI convictions)
- Ability to calculate basic figures and perform simple math
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Self-motivated with a strong sense of responsibility
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. to heights of 4-5 feet
- Frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting, and crawling
- Exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, vibration, dust, heat, and cold
- Willingness to drive on highways, rural roads, and in congested areas
- May operate tractors with or without air conditioning
