Overview
The Senior Equipment Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all street maintenance heavy equipment units in good operating condition so that street maintenance operation crews can meet their assigned yearly goals for the department.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance/repair on minor and heavy equipment repairs daily in the street maintenance yard.
- Perform troubleshooting and diagnostic testing on equipment such as: hydraulic, electrical, drive train, engine and other systems.
- Remove and replace defective parts using hand, power tools and other tools as required to keep equipment in operating order.
- Schedule equipment repairs with Fleet Maintenance.
- Research and procure parts and supplies needed by requesting a purchase order from the System Support Coordinator.
- May be asked to perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- No education required
- Minimum of two (2) years of related experience
- A valid Class A CDL required
- Air Brake endorsement required within 3 months of hire
- Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas Class A CDL within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating
Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
