Full Description

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Include but are not limited to the following:

Maintenance

  • Maintain all facilities on the grounds in these locations and perform the necessary repairs should the need arise.
  • Complete maintenance projects.
  • Respond to maintenance emergencies, even outside the hours of the workday.
  • Maintain a service truck that is equipped for its maintenance calls.
  • Work towards the ability to independently perform maintenance tasks.
  • Aid the supervisor in maintaining an accurate and adequately stocked inventory in the shop warehouse, office, and service truck.

Repairs

  • Repair grain shoots, augers, dryers, and other parts of the facility, primarily focusing on the electrical side of repairs.
  • Place orders for repair parts as needed.
  • Perform electrical, plumbing, construction, remodeling, wiring, and metal fabrication.

Safety & Regulations

  • Work with supervisor to prepare for compliance inspections.
  • Ensure that the facility is up to code, specifically electric.
  • Attend and participate in all safety meetings as requested.

Building Projects

  • Work with contractors and construction companies working on projects or the facility.
  • Participate in upkeep of existing facilities and construction of new ones.

Other

  • Troubleshoot to solve problems as they arise.
  • Attending training requested by supervisor will enable better work performance.
  • Communicate and maintain good relationships with vendors, contractors, and facility operators.

  • Checks the work area for hazards and corrects/reports unsafe conditions.
  • Considers the safety of oneself, and other employees, and customers.
  • Follows all safety protocols and seeks advice from supervisor when uncertain.

  • Maintains open communication and cooperates with supervisor, departments, and fellow employees.
  • Communicates with supervisor and others immediately when unexpected problems cause absence, lateness, or the need to leave early.

Accountability & Professionalism

  • Abides by policies set forth in the employee policy manual.
  • Carries a fair share of the workload.
  • Promotes NEW Cooperative through positive, friendly, and professional interactions.
  • Is punctual, follows directives, and works in an efficient and timely manner; accepts personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of the work.
  • Understands that satisfactory attendance is essential to the efficient operation of the work environment.

Customer Service

  • Continually works to satisfy customers to address questions/concerns through effective communication, solving problems, responding to questions, and managing their expectations.

Personal/Professional Development

  • Establishes personal performance goals and works toward these goals.
  • Continually upgrades and demonstrates knowledge of the job.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Must be licensed and insured to drive.
  • Have or ability to obtain a Class A CDL (Commercial Driver's License) is strongly recommended.
  • Journeyman electrical certification is strongly recommended.
  • Master electrician certification is encouraged.
  • Willing to earn certifications as asked by supervisor.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suit platforms.
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical work and understanding of electrical codes.
  • Must be proficient in welding, metalwork, carpentry, and other hands-on skills.
  • Possesses problem solving capabilities and understands the operational process of all cooperative facilities.
  • Must possess an array of interpersonal communication skills for interacting with varying personalities, roles, circumstances.
  • Must have strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changes of plans and coordinate those changes efficiently.
  • Have background knowledge of electrical, plumbing, construction, remodeling, concrete, wiring, metal fabrication, and basic mechanics.
