State Support Team Region 3 - Consultant Opening
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A master's degree in reading or literacy education, or a master's degree in a related area with either reading or literacy endorsements on a state license.
- Expertise in how to improve student learning through the implementation of high-quality, evidence-based reading/literacy strategies.
- Completion of a professional development program accredited by the International Dyslexia Association (accreditation or accreditation plus level).
- Three to five years of successful classroom teaching, including reading/literacy instruction in kindergarten through twelfth grade.
- Experience as a provider of professional development and technical assistance specific to evidence-based language and literacy development.
- Evidence of previous development of professional development materials specific to language and literacy development.
- Experience with coaching and consulting educators or leaders.
- Experience designing and implementing a district-wide or school-wide multi-tiered system of supports.
- Knowledge of how to analyze and use student and adult implementation data.
- Experience working with administrators.
- Experience facilitating or participating in plan-do-study-act cycles (i.e., collaborative problem-solving model, etc.).
RESPONSIBILITIES (include but not limited to):
- Coach educators to deliver explicit and systematic reading instruction in grades K-12 and intervention, and provide and receive effective instructional feedback.
- Coach teachers in administering assessments and measures of essential literacy skills, interpreting results, and using data to drive instruction.
- Assist districts and schools with administering system fidelity assessments, interpreting results to set goals, identifying additional professional learning needs, and recommending changes to improve schoolwide and/or classroom instructional practices.
- Provide intensive support, aligned with Ohio's Coaching Model for targeted building(s) through the development of an integrated multi-tiered system of support.
- Collaborate with district leaders to provide systems-level support around literacy improvement.
- Demonstrate adaptability and effective problem-solving by acquiring new skills, managing multiple tasks, and developing solutions to achieve goals.
- Use effective written and oral communication skills, including the ability to engage in difficult and candid conversations with a variety of stakeholders.
- Other duties as necessary may be assigned.
SALARY: Determined by education and experience
