Full Description

About Shepherd Electric Supply:

Since 1892, Shepherd Electric Supply has been the first call when complex, time-critical electrical challenges need to be solved, and reliability truly matters. We move materials accurately and on time, so contractors stay on schedule, projects stay on track, and customers never have to wonder if we will come through.

Our success comes from people who take pride in doing things the right way - safely, accurately, and with care for teammates and customers alike. If you want to do work that matters at a company that notices, this is the place.

Work Shift and Hours:
  • Monday - Friday, 6:00pm - 2:30am

Compensation Details:
  • The expected pay rate for this position is starting between $26.00 - $28.00 per hour depending on experience.

Why This Role Matters

The night shift is where tomorrow's deliveries get built. When the day crew leaves and the building quiets down, the night team steps in to load trucks, rotate stock, pull conduit wire, and make sure every outbound order is staged correctly before drivers arrive at first light.

This role is approximately 80% warehouse work and 20% driving. You will spend the majority of your shift on the floor - loading, pulling, rotating, and processing - with driving responsibilities as part of the daily operation. A CDL Class B is required; Class A is preferred. If you take pride in doing the work right when no one is watching, this role was written for you.

How This Role Connects to Our Compass

We Keep Our Promises - The day team depends on what you set up at night. Trucks loaded correctly, stock rotated, conduit pulled accurately - when you do your job right, drivers leave on time and customers get what they ordered. That chain starts with you.

We Stay Hungry - You look for a better way to load a truck, pull a wire, or move through the night's work without cutting corners. You ask questions, stay sharp on procedures, and do not coast through the shift just because it is late.

We Grow Together - Night shift does not operate in isolation. What you do - or do not do - directly affects the day team, the drivers, and the customers they serve. You carry your part of the load so the whole operation moves forward together.

We Own It - You do not let a problem sit until morning. If a load is wrong, a return is incomplete, or something is not where it should be - you fix it or flag it before the shift ends. No one should have to unwind your work when they arrive.

We Go Above & Beyond - You finish your assigned work and then look for what still needs doing. You leave the warehouse cleaner, more organized, and better set up than you found it. The day team walks in and everything is ready - because you made it that way.

Key Outcomes - Organized by what matters, not just what you do.

Truck Loading & Outbound Staging
  • Load company trucks efficiently and accurately so drivers can depart on schedule without rework
  • Pull and load conduit wire correctly - verify quantities and product before staging
  • Stage outbound freight so the morning team can begin operations immediately without searching or re-sorting

Inventory & Stock Management
  • Rotate stock to maintain inventory accuracy and freshness across product lines
  • Process merchandise returns accurately and stage them for proper disposition before the shift ends
  • Keep product organized in correct bin locations so the day team can pick and fulfill without delays

Forklift & Equipment Operation
  • Operate forklifts safely and in compliance with certification requirements throughout every shift
  • Follow all safety guidelines and proper lifting techniques - 80 lb. lift requirement applies throughout the shift
  • Report equipment issues or safety concerns to the Warehouse Manager before the shift ends - never leave a problem for the next crew

Driving Responsibilities
  • This role is approximately 80% warehouse work and 20% driving - CDL Class B is required; Class A is preferred
  • Operate company vehicles safely and in compliance with DOT regulations and Shepherd safety standards

What Success Looks Like - After 90 days, you and your supervisor should both be able to point to these markers:

  • Trucks are loaded correctly and on time - drivers depart without rework or missing product
  • Conduit wire is pulled accurately - quantities and products match orders every time
  • Stock is rotated and returns are processed before the shift ends - nothing is left for the day team to sort out
  • Forklifts and vehicles are operated safely every shift - no safety shortcuts, no unreported issues
  • The warehouse is clean and organized when the day team arrives - they can start immediately without fixing what night left behind
  • The Warehouse Manager trusts that the night shift runs correctly without close supervision

Who Thrives Here - This role is a strong fit if:

  • You do your best work when no one is watching - the standard does not change because it is 1 a.m.
  • You take accuracy seriously - a wrong load or a missed return is not just your problem, it is someone else's morning
  • You are physically capable, steady under pressure, and do not need to be told twice
  • You are dependable - your teammates and supervisor know that when you are on shift, the work gets done right
  • You take pride in leaving things better than you found them - trucks loaded, stock rotated, warehouse clean, day team set up to win

Qualifications & Requirements

  • CDL Class B required; Class A preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 3 years of warehouse experience preferred; night shift experience is a strong plus
  • Forklift certification required or ability to obtain through onsite training
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs. using proper technique and stand for extended periods
  • Valid driver's license required; current DOT and Medical Certification cards required
  • Dependable attendance and a team-oriented mindset - the night shift depends on everyone pulling their weight
  • Ability to successfully complete pre-employment screening requirements including background check and drug test
