Diesel Mechanic (Street Sweeping)

Hours: Monday-Friday from 1:00pm to 10:00pm

Location: 2400 Eastman Ave, Oxnard, CA 93030

Starting Pay: $28 per hour and up, depending on experience

Job Summary:

At SCA, we maintain a fleet of various vehicles and heavy-duty equipment, including sweepers, dump trucks, flatbeds, pickup trucks, trailers, and more. We're seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our dynamic team. In this role, you'll be at the forefront of ensuring the reliability and performance of essential machinery, engines, and mechanical systems. Key Responsibilities as a Diesel Mechanic:

• Build and assemble machines or mechanical components according to requirements.
• Inspect machines, engines, transmissions etc. and run diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues.
• Conduct repairs aiming for maximum reliability.
• Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner.
• Perform thorough maintenance on machinery, equipment, and systems.
• Clean and apply lubricants to machinery components.
• Replenish fluids and components of engines and machinery.
• Provide consultation on correct maintenance and preventative measures to machine or vehicle users.
• Undertake other duties as assigned (repair of hydraulic systems, painting vehicles etc.)
• Heavy equipment experience preferred.
• Keep logs of work or use maintenance system to report on issues.

Requirements/Skills:

• Minimum 3 years of experience, with at least 2 years specializing as a Diesel Mechanic. Fleet or heavy equipment experience is a plus!
• Valid driver's license required; CDL A or B preferred.
• Deep knowledge of machinery, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Proficiency with hand tools, shop tools, and precision measurement equipment (e.g., calipers).
• Strong problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.
• Ability to handle physically demanding tasks and maintain stamina throughout the workday.
• High school diploma preferred. Certification from a vocational school or apprenticeship is a plus.
• Commitment to following safety protocols and procedures.
• Occasional to travel for road calls and to assist at other locations as needed.
• Valid certification (ASE) is preferred
