Full Description
You will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating a Class A commercial motor vehicle to transport freight to assigned destinations. This is a safety-sensitive role requiring adherence to all federal, state, and company regulations. You must maintain high standards of professionalism, reliability, and customer service at all times.
Key Responsibilities-
Operate tractor-trailer or other Class A vehicles on local, regional, or over-the-road (OTR) routes.

Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicle, trailer, and cargo.

Secure, inspect, and verify loads; ensure cargo is properly balanced and secured.

Plan routes to meet delivery schedules, using maps, GPS, dispatch communications, and road knowledge.

Maintain accurate driver logs (hours of service) and submit required trip paperwork (bills of lading, delivery receipts, fuel/toll receipts).

Report mechanical defects, damages, accidents, traffic violations, or other incidents to dispatcher or supervisor immediately.

Perform basic vehicle maintenance (e.g., checking fluid levels, tire condition) or coordinate repairs with maintenance team.

Communicate clearly and professionally with dispatch, carriers, customers, and other stakeholders.

Comply with all DOT, FMCSA, state, and company safety, hours-of-service, and regulatory requirements.

Assist with loading or unloading cargo when required.

Follow standard operating procedures, company policies, and safety guidelines at all times.

Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) in good standing.

Minimum age: 21 for interstate driving (varies by state) (or as required by law).

Satisfactory driving record (no serious violations) and acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).

Must pass DOT physical and maintain a valid medical card.

Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and periodic tests per DOT rules.

At least [1–2] years of verifiable Class A driving experience (or more, depending on route complexity).

Ability to read maps, use GPS/navigation tools, and follow route instructions.

Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to detect vehicle problems.

Good communication skills and customer service orientation.

Ability to lift, climb, bend, and perform physical tasks associated with handling freight.

Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, depending on assignment.

Compliance with all federal, state, and local trucking regulations and safety rules.

Endorsements (e.g. HazMat, Double/Triple, Tanker, etc.).

Experience with specific freight types (reefer, flatbed, dry van, intermodal, etc.).

Experience with ELDs (Electronic Logging Devices) and trucking dispatch software.

Local/regional knowledge of certain geographies or lanes.
