Full Description
Work consists of general security tasks, which have a high degree of difficulty. Employee will be expected to be involved with maintaining safety and security of staff, patients and the general public. Employee will also be responsible for managing situations in which patients present volatile behavioral health characteristics. Employee will carry a Tanner Health System-issued firearm.
Required Knowledge & Skills
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Experience: Two years of related experience. Requires working knowledge of specialized practices, equipment, and procedures.

HEALTHCARE PROVIDER (CPR)
Qualifications
Former Public Safety (including Law Enforcement, Corrections, Fire Service or EMS) Healthcare Security, Military or Private Business Security with at least 2 years experience required.
Ability to legally drive in the State of Georgia and insurable by TMC vehicle insurance carrier.
Ability to obtain and maintain a state-issued Weapons Carry License from the employee's state of residence.
Subject to annual background check. Must pass psychological examination.
Completion of required training within the first 90 days of employment: IAHSS Advanced, Basic Life Support (BLS CPR), Safe Crisis Intervention for Patients and Professionals (SCIPP) and Conducted Energy Weapon (CEW) body camera use.
Completion of required Tanner Health System firearms training. Equivalent POST-Required training will be accepted if current (completed within the previous calendar year) and recorded on Georgia POST transcript. Ability to maintain minimum standards for Tanner Health System Armed Security Officers, to include acceptable firearms proficiency.
Receive acceptable performance rating on department competencies on an annual basis.
Ability to communicate with the public and patients in a tactful, intelligent and authoritative manner.
Ability to function independent of constant supervision and exercise physical and emotional restraint under stressful conditions.
Possess computer and writing skills necessary to complete incident, accident, and investigative reports.
Ability to read, write and comprehend the English language.
Ability to resolve problems and use independent judgment.
Will accept one year of experience with IAHSS Advanced Certification

Functions
Area of Responsibilities
Enforce Tanner Health System rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Conduct proper interior and exterior security patrols and fix or report any safety, security, and maintenance issues as appropriate. Respond to active alarms and maintain high visibility on property.
Manage patients with 1013 2013 status in accordance with Tanner policy. May also be required to assist in management of patients displaying inappropriate behavior as determined by staff, but not assigned 1013 2013 status by appropriate individuals.
Maintain proper documentation in accordance with Tanner policy.
Administer facility security and access control measures.
Comply with standards set forth by regulatory agencies, to include the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
Attend meetings and participate in continuing education mandated per department and system policy.
Transport individuals, equipment, medications, and supplies within and between Tanner facilities.
Use and maintain facility and issued equipment in accordance with Tanner policy.
Secure individuals in high difficulty situations. This includes direct interaction with belligerent patients or visitors and crowd control. Take immediate corrective action against hazards and conditions which may cause injury or damage. Apply appropriate use of force in accordance with Tanner policy when warranted for the protection of patients and staff.
Maintain current knowledge of roles and responsibilities as they relate to Emergency Management. Function appropriately in the Incident Command System during disasters and other Emergency Management Related events.
Maintain security of medications during transport to and from nursing areas. Obtain any required documentation or signatures to document chain of custody when transporting medications between facilities. Utilize safety precautions at all times when performing this function.
Assume supervision of the shift in the absence of a Shift Sergeant or Corporal.
Compliance Statement
Employee performs within the prescribed limits of Tanner Health System's Ethics and Compliance program. Is responsible to detect, observe, and report compliance variances to their immediate supervisor, the Compliance Officer, or the Hotline.
