CDL A Driver - Touch Freight - $30/HR

Location: East Syracuse, New York

About the Position

Our client is seeking a local CDL A driver for a customer-facing role serving East Syracuse and Central New York. Drivers will make approximately four stops per day while hauling empty bottles and cans from retail stores and small local businesses. This is a temporary-to-permanent opportunity with consistent local work and support from the TransForce team.

Pay & Schedule

• $30 per hour
• Approximately 40 hours per week
• Monday through Friday schedule
• 7:00 AM start time
• Optional Saturday runs may be available during peak season
• Saturday work after Memorial Day and July 4 is required
• Local routes throughout East Syracuse and Central New York
• Temp-to-perm employment opportunity

Job Details

• Route type: Local, customer-facing routes
• Freight: Empty bottles and cans
• Equipment: 48-foot rail gate dry vans
• Handling: Heavy-touch work requiring drivers to identify, tag, carry, and load bags weighing up to 50 pounds
• Warehouse staff will unload the trailer

Key Responsibilities

• Pick up empty bottles and cans from retail stores and small local businesses across Central New York.
• Make approximately four customer stops per day.
• Identify and tag bags of bottles and cans.
• Carry bags weighing up to 50 pounds and load them onto the trailer.
• Communicate clearly and provide professional customer service at each stop.
• Operate equipment safely and responsibly.

Minimum Requirements

• Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
• 0+ months of recent, relevant, and verifiable driving experience.
• Clean Motor Vehicle Record with no major traffic violations or preventable accidents in the last 3 years.
• Must meet all DOT and FMCSA requirements.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Ability to lift and carry bags weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Clear communication and basic customer service skills.
