As a CDL A Truck Driver , the essential functions and basic duties of the CDL Driver are to perform pre and post trip inspection of their vehicle, utilizing knowledge of safe and effective loading/unloading and the proper operation of their equipment (straight truck. As a Delivery Driver, you are also responsible for reviewing paperwork for completeness and accuracy, checking orders for the correct number of cases, delivering and unloading products utilizing equipment, including straight truck, ramps, pallet jacks, load bars, and other devices which assist in delivery. Operating vehicle safely while maintaining DOT compliance and following all local, state, and Federal requirements. Ensuring on-time deliver while communicating professionally with customers and vendors.
Key Responsibilities:
Transport and deliver ice in accordance with the established schedule
Load and unload product as necessary, verifying counts and condition including damage-free delivery
Properly secure loads and ensure loads are within weight limits
Report of overages, shortages, and breakage/damage as needed
Operate the motor vehicle units in a safe manner, reporting any vehicle problems and defects to management
Deliver ice on time and act in a courteous and professional manner to develop and maintain good customer relations
Comply with all Department of Transportation and company standards and regulations including maintaining a good driving record
Perform additional duties as assigned by management
Key Requirements:
Valid Class A CDL driver's license and clean driving record
Ability to follow work procedures and safety rules
Knowledge of geographic area
Skill in safely operating various types of motor vehicles
Have appropriate eye, hand and foot coordination to properly use various equipment and/or tools
Ability to identify and locate product which requires reading, counting and printing
Ability to use automated inventory control equipment
Ability to stand, walk, bend, crouch, stoop, reach, stretch, step, climb and/or sit frequently or through the duration of the shift
Ability to load/unload, lift/move equipment/product which may weigh up to 100 pounds
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with customers
Meet material handling equipment certification requirements
Ability to write numeric and alphanumeric characters
Ability to accept supervisory coaching related to performance, work habits and attitude.
Ability to function as a team member and get along with others
