YARD DRIVER-DC

As the DC Yard Driver, you will:

Coordinate movement of all in-bound and out-bound trailers in the yard. Move trailers to and from the yard based on instructions received from the shipping or receiving coordinators.

• Complete a DVIR on the yard tractor at the beginning of the shift.

• Receive instructions from the coordinator on what trailers need to be moved to which doors.

• Follows all yard safety procedures including but not limited to

• Staying alert to traffic in the yard

• Hooking tractors

• Removing chocks

• Handling swing outdoors

• Close all trailer doors before exiting the yard.

• Follows the rules of the road to transfer trailers to other warehouses.

The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Must have a current CDL (Class A) to drive on public roads.
• Ability to work 3rd shift- Sunday through Thursday.
• Must be able to provide a good safety record and maintain this record while in this position.
• Must have good attendance record and past record of dependability.
• Must have the ability to communicate and work well with other departments (particularly shipping and receiving coordinators).
• Must be willing to work OT as necessary.
• 5 years of good driving experience; would consider less experience if candidate worked as yard driver.

Performs other duties as assigned by manager
