About the job:

The position of Delivery Driver A safely transports and delivers various products including explosive supplies, (hazardous materials), to Company job sites. In addition, will record deliveries and pickups on a load manifest while obtaining necessary signatures. This position will also perform pre and post trip vehicle inspections, documenting deficiencies and ensuring all safety issues and items are in good working order. Responsible for maintaining a neat, clean and professional vehicle and self. Daily activity will also include loading, unloading, driving, and necessary documentation and paperwork completion. This position reports to the assigned Site Supervisor.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Safe and timely transport of explosives supply. May periodically require utilizing Class B or C vehicles on an as needed basis.
  • Maintains accurate load manifests and all other vehicle documents ensuring proper completion and balanced with truck counts and shipping documents before and after deliveries.
  • Receive product at magazine sites and properly store in inventory.
  • Load product from magazine site to appropriate distribution vehicle.
  • Unload product at appropriate job site.
  • Assure that all loads and materials are properly secured.
  • Assure that all state and local traffic laws and regulations are followed.
  • Assure that DOT safety rules and regulations are met including accurate logbook and daily safety check information documentation.
  • Keep vehicle clean and maintain recommended maintenance schedules.
  • Effectively communicate work status to supervisor/dispatcher and offer cooperation to maximize truck time utilization.
  • Represent the Company in a positive and professional manner while prioritizing multiple assignments.
  • Promptly report all vehicle incidents/accidents and traffic violations that have occurred during the course of performing commercial driving.
  • Submit to Federal DOT required drug and alcohol testing as required.
  • Flexibility to start the working day at any time based on pre-determined job schedule. Notice will be provided by 5:00 p.m. the prior day.
  • Prepare and calculate a trip manifest, pick and bulk ticket with complete and thorough accuracy.
  • Attend field operations and subsequent safety and operational meetings when required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Class A with Hazmat Endorsement.as well as DOT Tanker Endorsement.
  • Clear and clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
  • DOT medical fitness card.
  • Two (2) or more years of successful Class A commercial driving experience.
  • Solid understanding of Federal DOT/State regulations as it relates to hazardous material transportation, trucking and interstate commerce.
  • Must successfully complete a background check for ATF.
  • Must successfully pass pre-employment physical exam and drug screening.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of key system components on tanker as well as ability to clear plugged hoses, perform advanced maintenance, prime hoses with water and product and operate hose reels and handrails.
  • Preferred: Five (5) plus years of successful Class A Commercial driving experience.
  • Valid driver's license; must obtain and maintain approved company driver status.

Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling.
  • Stooping and bending 30 - 40 percent of the time.
  • Must be able to lift 50 - 80 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity as needed to operate a variety of machinery and equipment.
  • High degree of physical agility.
  • Work on uneven and loose surfaces in varying weather conditions.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and tolerate exposure to excess noise under strenuous working conditions.

Work Environment
  • Work schedule will vary depending on the project schedule and approved completion dates of the job. Generally, will be a Monday through Friday workweek and total hours will be monitored to conform with DOT regulations.
  • Primary work is outdoors in varying degrees of weather elements, both cold and hot temperatures dependent on the seasons of the year and job locations.
  • Work closely with other crew members to coordinate responsibilities and communicate progress.

Travel
    • Regular delivery routes. May require out of town/state travel, as necessary.
